What’s next?

I’m sure the saying “when one door closes, another opens” is familiar to lots of you and I believe it’s true no matter which stage in life we’re in, because life keeps going and we’re constantly growing up. As my IGCSE course comes to an end and I patiently (and anxiously) await for my results, I want to give you all an overview of the interests I have undertaken for the months that I’ve been away and what I have planned for this website.

Blog

I’ve said this many times, and I’d like to say it again: This website is my space and a place for me to give myself closure. Despite not always having the motivation or time to write, I do enjoy reflecting and sharing about what I’ve learned. So, I’ve decided to dedicate more time to these blogs and share a broader and more accurate view into the person I am. IN the past, I haven’t had much to share in terms of my interests and hobbies because, frankly, I didn’t have many. Yes, I love playing badminton, but I don’t watch much of it. Yes, I do play some minecraft (yes, slightly embarrassing), but I don’t play often.

With that being said, the past half a year has been a rollercoaster for personal growth and I think I’m finally ready to share more about my experiences and interests, even doing deep dives into each of them. Let me give you an overview.

New content?

  • For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved kicking and watching football. Maybe it’s something related to my familial influence, given that my dad is heavily involved in the sports industry, but watching the Premier League and keeping up with the football news have been something I’ve enjoyed for years. Embarrassingly on my part, only my family knows. I was, like many other girls, afraid of being called too “manly” or had the fear of missing out with my female friends who enjoyed polar opposite things like makeup or shopping. Me? A bag of Doritos in my left hand and a remote control in my right, pressing away to a Premier League game, would suffice for me. Ever since the 2022 world cup, my love for football has reignited and this year the fire’s been roaring stronger than ever. Hence, I hope to use this platform that I have to share discussions and news about everything football related, so I can finally express my love for football without needing someone else’s approval.

  • Another thing that is inevitable for many growing up to encounter is the problem of body image. This has always been something I have struggled with due to external pressures and comments (something I’ll share more about) and so naturally, I have done increasingly more deep dives into fitness and nutrition related topics and truly fallen in love with it. In the future, I want to share more about my own experience dealing with body insecurities, my relationship with food and overall discuss all that there is to gym and nutrition. This way, hopefully we can dig deeper into research-based nutrition topics and I can inspire any one of you to heal your relationship with your body, too.

Attention! I have also started my own Instagram account dedicated to exploring and reviewing all the eateries that I visit to hopefully inspire some of you to grab good food and take good care of yourselves too. The Instagram account is @zhuzhu_eats, so please go ahead and give it a follow to stay inspired for good food all around the world! I also intend on starting a new series dedicated to finding cheap and yummy restaurants around Hong Kong, where I’m based. You don’t want to miss it!

  • Last month, I travelled alone for the first time away from home for a full month to attend the Columbia Pre-college program and visit cities like NYC and San Francisco. The experiences I have gained in the past month and the people I’ve met will stick by me for a very long time, and I’d like to share all that I saw and learned with you all.

At the moment, these are the major branches I hope to dedicate my blogs on, because at the moment, they are truly what I enjoy the most and I think by writing about what I love, consistency is achieved much more easily. Let’s see if I can stay true to my promises, and I’m very excited about the future of this website.

Thanks for reading, and see you all in a bit.
